In addition, in the Middle Ages a mask like this may have been carried by wealthy leprosy victims to hide the disfigured face. This mask is handbeaten from 18 gauge i.e. 1.2mm steel. The inside is completely lined with leather. A leather belts to carrying and/or attach directly to a helmet can be made easily.
