Schandgeige
This replica of a medieval Schandgeige (also violin neck, pillory,
Spanish violin or Zankbrett) consists of wood and iron
fittings
The violin is opened and then both head and
Wrists placed in corresponding recesses and closed again.
Using the front mounted screw neck restraint, this easily
is closed and you do not need a separate lock.
In the Middle Ages the so-called honor Schandgeige was used to carry out punishments
and served mostly for lighter punishment offenses such as squabbles
or pilfering.
The sentenced person was paraded through the streets
The punishment was therefore mainly public humiliation.
